The Bolsey Model C is a rare and stylish little camera that was produced from 1948 until 1956, it has the 1950’s styling, shiny metal fish, and curves reminiscent of a 1956 Chevrolet. Ukrainian-born American, Jacques Bolsey created a street photography gem; a strange mix between a medium format twin lens reflex and a small format camera constructed with lightweight aluminium. The camera was particularly useful for combat photographers during the Korean War. These days, this hard to find in good condition camera is a collector’s item. In Japan it is labelled “Kawaii” (cutesy) for its small, toy like size and quirky styling. Thanks to Cheyenne Morrison @bigshotphotos for lending me his Bolsey which made this series possible.
